Welcome!
Hi!
Thank you so much for signing up for our 2021 yearlong class! Here are a few things to know before class begins!
• The first lesson goes up on Friday, January 8th at about 1:00am PT, and once it is up, you can watch on your own time table. (I’ve copied the full schedule below… and you can always find it at the website as well).
• The yearlong class should already be listed in your “My Classes” tab. To make sure it’s there before our first lesson, go to www.carlasonheim.com and log in with the email and password you created at checkout… it should take you right to your My Classes page and “2021: Carla’s Yearlong Class” will be listed in alphabetical order. (If it’s not there for some reason, email us at [email protected] and let us know!)
• We are trying out a new Class Forum this yearlong! With a fresh new year we wanted to try out fresh NEW forum space for this year’s class. I have found the PADLET interface to be super easy and uncluttered, and hope you will, too! We’ve had many requests over the years to try a forum outside of Facebook, and now many people who do not use Facebook can participate in the forums this year (yay!). You do not need a Padlet account to view or post in the forum (though if you do sign up for a free account, your name will appear at the top of each of your posts). The class Padlet link is below and will be at the bottom of every email communication. Head on over now and introduce yourselves!
• Our first ZOOM work sessions are January 8th at 5pm PT and January 9th at 11am PT. (These are completely optional, and you can attend one or both sessions.) HERE is a full schedule of the year’s zoom calls… and I will send out the Zoom link in the email of our first lesson.
• Supplies for Lesson 1. So far Lesson 1 is shaping up to be kind of a smorgasbord of fun exercises and techniques to get us warmed up for the new year! The supplies you will need for Lesson 1 are:
– a sketchbook (I like the Canson mix media blue spiral bounds)
– Watercolor paper (I am using a 140# hot press and also Rives BFK, a printmaking paper, but whatever you have is fine!)
– a selection of colored pencils and pens; various markers, paint pens, pastels — what you have is fine!
– watercolors (any kind, cake or pan) and/or acrylics
– watercolor brushes (I like a #12 round watercolor brush and flat brushes)
– Optional: We might pull out the Gelli® Plate and acrylics well, but if you don’t have one, I will offer some alternative techniques.
I’m so looking forward to working with you this year and please let me know if you have any questions!
