Welcome
Hi, and thank you for signing up for Gelli® Plate Printmaking!
In this class, I’ll show you how to make fine-art quality prints with inexpensive materials. No experience necessary! You’ll learn how to apply bands of color and texture, develop your images with stencils, stamping and drawing, and finish your prints with glazing and sink work.
Happy you’re here!
🙂 Carla
Supplies
I will be demonstrating with the following supplies. However, it’s completely up to you whether or not you want to purchase new art supplies! If you don’t have one of the following items, there is likely something around your studio that would make a suitable substitute. Links are given here for some of the items just so you can see what they are.
- Acrylic paint (I happen to be using Blickrylic paints, inexpensive Blick brand. I have blue, red, yellow, brown, black and white. I also have a Golden “Payne’s Gray.” Most likely what you already have on hand will be GREAT.)
- A brayer (I prefer Speedball Soft Rubber Brayers.)
- One or two sheets of 140# hot press watercolor paper or similar, cut or torn to 7″x10″ pieces (I like Fabriano Artistico, traditional or extra white)
- Acissors
- 10 or so pieces of heavy card stock from the office supply store (such as this).
- A Gelli Plate. I use the 8″x10″ size, but the small will work well. If you only have a larger one, that will work, too! Just work bigger and perhaps add a retarder medium to your acrylic paints.
- Rag or paper towels
- Scissors
