Making Art a Practice

In this course, “Sketchbooks: Making Art a Practice,” we’ll use the sketchbook to explore how to make our art practice a vital one. We’ll draw and paint in experimental ways, find inspirational images to include in our sketchbooks, look at where we’ve been and where we might go, and consider how to grow our ideas for our art.

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Making Art a Practice!

In this class we’re going explore dynamic ways to work in our sketchbooks and take our discoveries into the art we make and into our lives too.

How do we become truly our unique selves as artists and make our journey a really enriching one? Sketchbooks can give us a chance to experiment and let go of results, especially any need to get things right or to look good. We can find the edge of our abilities and insights and grow them.

I’m going on this journey with you as a full participant. I’ll post additional inspiration each weekday too as well as my drawings. I so look forward to seeing what you do and hearing your thoughts in the discussions we have. It’s going to be fun. And we’re going to bring something wondrous back to our art, and our lives, from our time together.

Thanks for joining in!
